I really suck at writing About Me’s, mostly because it sounds too much like bragging or something. But here goes, anyway.
I am 30-something wife and mother, a writer of short stories and poems, amateur digital photographer, fleece crafter, blog addict, Sims addict, and collector of spoons. My husband is a SeaBee in the US Navy and we have two children: Pea (age 10) and Little Man (age 4). We had a cat, but she recently died.
I enjoy long walks in the country, camping, swimming, talking to my friends on the phone or computer, building websites (my favorite medium is WordPress), reading and writing.
What you’re likely to find on this blog:
Books & Reading – blather about the books I’m currently reading or thinking about reading, recs if I liked something a lot (or if I need to ask for a book rec) and book reviews. I use Goodreads to keep track of the books I’m reading. I read pretty anything, so be prepared for a good mix of everything from classics to cheesy paperback romances.
Creative Writing – I’ve been writing since I was ten, in some form or another. In junior high school, I wrote moody, ambiguous poetry and in college I started writing short stories again (the first ones were in elementary school and features me and best friends as the heroes of all our adventures). I write pretty much anything that strikes my fancy: fantasy, romance, horror/chiller. I love ghost stories the best. I’ve always wanted to write a mystery, but I suck at deciphering the hoodunit, and I’ve always wanted to write a romance.
Over on Dreamwidth, I signed up for Original Fiction Bingo, so I’ll have prompts for short stories to fill the year.
And every year, I attempt a novel for NaNoWriMo. I’ve made it to 50k once, though the story wasn’t finished yet. I expect you’ll hear about that, too.
Digital Photography – I love to take pictures with my digital camera and love to share them. Sometimes it’s just pictures of my kids or something cool in the back yard. Sometimes I attempt to get artistic with my photography. That usually fails. I like nature scenes the best… flowers, sunsets, trees. That sort of thing.
Fleece Crafts – I make no-sew fleece blankets, and would like to branch out into making pillows, scarves and hats. Mostly, I make them as gifts for people, but I’ve been considering putting some on Ebay or Etsy. But for now, it’s just a hobby.
The Small Stuff – As my husband likes to say, “don’t sweat the small stuff.” These are my personal thoughts, family ramblings, and everything that doesn’t fit anywhere else. I like to post little snippets of conversions had with my kids, rants about things observed during the day, etc.
