Lazy Day Hiaku

an even more fleeting moment in time... my daughter in 2007

So much still to do
dirty dishes and laundry
we played cards instead

House work always is
Precious childhood is fleeting
gone in a minute

Tomorrow will be
time enough for the ‘need-tos’
today is for you

We all have them — days where you just want to stay in your jammies and do nothing. We call them ‘Lazy Days.’

I had a ton of stuff to do today… laundry, dishes, and more laundry. Instead, my husband and I played a game of bridge with my daughter and her best friend and then hung out with my friend Andrea and my aunt. We did get dresses (although the girls didn’t until after the card game), but my dishes and laundry didn’t get done.

*shrugs* It’ll be there tomorrow. But the few, fleeting moments when my almost-eleven year old daughter wanted to play cards with us… those won’t always be there and someday, I’m going miss them.

I’m not advocating living in squalor… just making the occasional conscious decision to spend time with your family instead of stressing out over the small stuff.
