Day 03 – The best book you’ve read in the last 12 months

Honestly, this one may surprise some people, but the best book I’ve read this year would have to be Gil’s All Fright Diner, by A. Lee Martinez.

This is an unconventional choice for me because, if you know anything about me, you know that I am pretty terrified by zombies. They feature into my worst recurring nightmares and even cartoon versions give me the willies.

However, the zombies play only a small background role in this book, which is the humorous, over the top tale of Duke (over-weight werewolf trucker) and Earl (a vampire with a comb-over) and their misadventures in what turns out not to be your typical hick town.

For those keeping track… the master list of these questions is here.
